Okay, the Beta test has been running for a while now with no ETA for a proper CC Sub version.

I'm paying 2.5p a min for the privilege plus 10.00 pound a month for my old Sub.

Really all I'm saying is I've waited more than long enough, along with a far more than just a handful of people for WP to sort themselves out, I will be pulling my Sub at the end of Feb and cease to use the Flex number which I've been using simply to get the quality of service that we had expected a long time ago.

Thanks anyway.

Jode.

Ps. none of that was said in a menacing or demanding way. Just simply to let you know I have lost my patience.

hear hear.

was going to post a similar message myself today but forgot. Even if all they do is make some of the modems they have for the payg number connectable via cc it'll be something.

LF, if I were you I'd go back to the CC number rather than pull the sub, ping might be worse, but if WP are to be believed they make more from the payg number than the CC number, so hit them where it hurts, in the wallet http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif

Err. Right. Sorry.
I have been trying to put some messages out about this but things have gone a bit astray over Christmas (and I spent the hols drunk on health grounds - needed a break!)
The reason we put the trial on PAYG was that the modems need extra tweaking for credit card authentication and we needed to get them in quickly. We'd have preferred to put it on CC cos altho the money isnt much it is at least regular and also its a loyalty thing (and loyalty is why I am responding to you - it works both ways and I'm gutted that you are not happy).
Obviously we want this fix for the whole service but I only have 2 ways to do this:
1/ Fix the modems we have, or
2/ Throw them away and get more like we trialled.
Now the problem with 1 is that I have had everyone, including the modem guys, busy on other stuff, like the new software with better support for your modems, game launcher for more flexibility on the Worlds channel, the BTInternet deal and now the PlayNow service.
The problem with 2 is that we just bought new modems last spring, ffs.
We are making progress and have new software for our present modems now in test, also seriously considering biting the bullet and replacing at least part of our capacity with the new modems. Its a culture difference thing but I cant promise you a solution until I know we can deliver, at which time we wont mess about but will stick it into service.
So sorry if you feel let down but please believe that we are doing our best to sort it.

Hi,

I hope you do not think I am simply getting at any of the team that reply to the messages on the board, I would have written an Email if I could remember the address.

I am not immature enough to kick up an argument on these boards (umm at least not anymore http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/wink.gif )

I wish you all the best with the tests, once everything is sorted then of course I will re-instate my subscription. It's just that my recent phone bill suggests that I am lining someones pockets and seemingly not for the good of the WP Service.

Regards,

Jode (thats MR btw)

First - I'm sorry that there seems to have been a ****-up here.

Second, you guys on the Beta are helping us improve the service and we appreciate that.

Third, we don't have any decent excuse that can make you feel any better about it - you don't want to hear about the inner workings because you are experiencing the problem.

I have brought this up internally, but I've not really been involved with this to date.

I'll go back to the office tomorrow and see what I can do.

I will send an Email to as many people on the Beta test as I can find Email address's for (not being involved with this means that I personally don't know who has been involved - this is not a reflection on the people who have been)

Hi Oscar,

I think it's gone a bit too far, there's only so long you can last with your head held under the water.

The line for 56K Flex appears to have been dropped tonight, or at least is unavailable due to circumstance not explained. A Server/Line/Router Status page is not present to tell us this...but still.

A 200 Ping tonight Oscar, I really couldn't play, I was on for 25 minutes then left. My other Modemer Teammate Timed out after playing for 5 minutes. I really don't feel like coming back.

If it is any consolation however my connection to the Net is just as bad if not worse.

I'm going to sit around downloading Linux and other such crap for a few weeks and play Quake off-line, a much cheaper and ultimately profitable option. I'll come back later on and see how it fares. A Shame the league starts in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for all your help however.

Lo Tigs btw http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif

I think this is as close as it's got to ending WP Quake for Modemers Oscar. I am seriously sorry.

PLease see my other posts about this being a trial. I did get called out last night about the k56 box going down, our systems worked as they should to detect the problem and get the ops manager onto the case. However we had to call in the suppiers and as this is a trial they could hardly be expected to come in until today. Shoud be back up tonight.

We are working on v.90 and k56 and will give yo a fix as soon as possible.

Lightfoot, I'm amazed you can get bad pings on Internet and Wireplay yet its all our fault. I'd like to have you back on the service so why not call our helpdesk and see whether we can help work out what the problem is. Is your modem OK? Tried it into the master socket with no other phones plugged in ( modems hate extensions and its easy to add a phone which b0rks your connection). Tried a mates modem? We need to be sure the problems not your end before looking at wp.

Thought you might have picked up on that bit, basically I've always had bad pings on the net.

Hence the reason that I have become increasingly miffed at WP falling apart.

I have Cable lines, crystal clear connection giving an always connect of 52,000. It is plugged into a socket on it's own (2 lines).

I used to have good pings without the Flex stuff usually around 135, with it I get around 105 plus PL 2 and now I'm timing all the time. Went back on CC Billing last night as the Flex stuff had fallen over and I had ping of 210 umm great fun.

The Problem though is that it isn't just me, it's like loads of ppl are suffering.

Jacobite
Crow
Myself
etc..

Of course it could be my modem, but after trying a number of configurations and seeing the state of the other players I very much doubt it now.

Btw, the bad pings on the Net is quite possibly ISP related rather than Modem since the backbone that mine is on isn't much to shout about, so that argument is therefore Null.

I think the current argument has been stretched out too long anyway. I can't see how 11 months ago when I was new to Modem configurations and stuff do I get a 130 ping and now it's far far higher.

Anyway, the reason I've cancelled my subscription (i've put it forward to tomorrow rather than Feb now) is simply that the argument is going around in circles.

Gl with the changes as I say I will be back on once it's sorted I'm just not prepared to suffer in the meantime for another 5-6 months.

WP will have to rely on Die Hard fans money for the time being.

Jode.

Ps. The simple question that WP should be asking themselves is what we're the pings like last april and what are they like now.

PPs. I can see you're getting a little irate too http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif

umm

a lot then http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif
