View Full Version : Duplicate and triplicate postings
Erm for what its worth, I have a theory about this. First up, a question for those of you having the problem (it isnt everyone). When you post do you get an error message leading you to believe your post hasnt succeeded, and you go back and re post it? Cos if you are, I think thats the prob, or at least why your getting multiple posts. I get the odd error type message on the rare occaision I post anything http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/wink.gif, but I just ignore them and my post still ends up on the boards, and just the once as well hehe.
If you are submitting just once but its still triplicating it, there may be sommat else happening. Post here details of your browser and we may get to the bottom of this together. The odd triplicated short post is funny, but when some of ya get it, who go on a bit if truth were told, it gets annoying http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif LOL.

No it happens when you press the Stop button part way through posting the message, then pressing the post button again.
Dead simple...
I'll show you (unless the new servers have helped stopped it - but i doubt it).

Had it once - got a server error causing a double post... The third post seems to be where people have used their back button and re-submitted (could be wrong though)... I've tried to recreate it by variously wierd means but it seems as untraceable as the presents that should have been in my Christmas sock...
P.S. all these bug reports belong to me - just cause I haven't got any Christmas presents doesn't mean you can all steal them...

Nope - you seem to get the triple post whatever you do. I tried disconnecting last time I got the server error and when I went back in, it still showed three posts.
Well I've had it twice more now - but each time I've had it I've used my browsers (IE4) back select button to return to the forums main page... Then when I've gone to check the post it has only appeared once... The general rule then is not to refresh, repost etc when you get the error - simply leave for a different place http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif
Perhaps as an interim measure the "Server Error" html page could be fitted with a link to return direct to the forum menu... This would hopefully stop people going back and completely reposting as it is getting a little annoying when you realise you've just read someones comments three times... (Unless of course its one of my posts http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif)...
Anyway - I still haven't thought of a good reason - maybe it is something silly like two people posting at once...
