ok im having 2 main problems with my above mentioned modem.....
1) it very rarely connects at anything above 33k, and i know it isnt my phone line causing this

2) when playing quake, i seem to time out ALOT, almost every 10 minutes. This is the most annoying problem.

i've tried LOADS to sort these problems out, but NOTHING seems to work.

(installing dun 1.3 made things even worse too, play was EXTREMELY sluggish)

if u care, im using an k6 233, 64meg ram, windows 95 (with all the available updates atm) etc etc

please help http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/redface.gif)

---------Well well well. What a goddam surprise, eh. For Chrissake WP, you know that you've got MAJOR probs with ALL of your users, which are:

1) Noone can connect anything above 33Kbps, even with an x2 modem. Oh yeah, you can at about 2AM in the morning, when noone's signed on, but what the hell's the point? That means you just cannot support (or dont want to?) x2 modem racks for your users.
2) With your KFlex trials, no feeback I've ever heard from any Q2'er has been positive. Its just the same, for God's sake. "Timeouts, disconnects, and I rarely connect at 56k." Surprise!
3) With the x2 connections, its absolutely the same. Oh yeah, I got meself one of those fancy USR 5%6k modems (presumably the best for WP), and guess what, it was sent by WP itself. So why the hell is that if I connect at 48Kbps at 1:30AM, I get a timeout within 10 minutes?

So I think you'd better do something about it. Couldn't you just test it from normal conditions, e.g. a regular, bog standart fone line, instead of lab conditions? Hey, your modems are 3Com, so what's the problem 3Com modems supporting 3Com modems?

You gotta do it fast, or you're gonna lose a LOT of customers... if you can't keep up... I'm afraid that you've just gotta step down, then. That IS the rule of business, innit?

That's odd, because I can't connect over 41,333bps, yet I get pings equal to and better than a person connected at 50,000bps+ . No idea why.

And I usually connect at 33,600, which is stupid. What's up WP?
