hi beermonster
Loads of peeps connect at a lot better than this so I dont understand where the orrible ping comes from. Players tell me that on some PCs having other application open at the same time as Quake slows stuff down, tho the Wireplay software itself has little impact. For Worlds our service is not a lot different to others with servers at the PoP, we hope to engineer it better but these games do not take advantage of our server/router or comms technology. So I dont really understand comments about "X is better than WP".
Theres loads of stuff on our site about optimising your game and which versions are compatible. You have to set rates etc. in the console. Also we find big differences using basic Windows modem drivers rather than those provided by your modem maker (maybe they optimise for throughput and forget ping, I dunno) Anyway, try choosing "standard modem" in your Wireplay dialler.
If all else fails, remember we provide a helpdesk and you can always call us.
