Are Orchid going to release new voodoo2 drivers? Im having to use reference drivers at the mo because i need directx6. Im sure the graphics arent as good as with the orchid drivers though.
How do i reduce my ping with a flex modem? Its about 270. With my usr x2 (when it was working) my ping was about 170. Can i use the special flex number?
oooo, just got an unrecognised reponse from server...
Anyway, I have posted beneath the text files I have compiled over the months with FLEX and x2 init strings. Feel free to use them.
-----------
KFLEX STUFF
-----------
The first:
X3
note the capital...
Proper init strings for 56KFlex:
AT&F+MS=56
AT&F+MS=56S202=32
AT&F1+MS=56
AT&F1+MS=56S202=32
Also, the one in the manual MIGHT work:
AT+MS=,,,,1%E0S202=32
But i doubt it!
To force a K56Flex connection, use the following string:
AT+MS=56,1,34000,56000%E0
To increase the transmit level, which can also increase the connect speed, also add the following:
S91=15
----------
AT+MS=56,1,42667,42667,1,0,33600
--------
x2 STUFF
--------
Wicked Init Strings for US Robotics 56k Flash External:
ATS12=10
Gets a 115-100 ping on wireplay, on dial-up networking connect at least.
ATM0&N33&U0S32=34
Disables x2 and sets the speed limit to 49,333bps.
The following is th Wireplay Software's default init string, and produces a stable, sub 130 ping.
AT&F&B1&A3E0Q0V1&C1&D2S0=0
From www.56k.com:
x2 ON, v.90 OFF: ATS32=66
x2 OFF, v.90 ON: ATS32=34
BOTH OFF: ATS32=98
BOTH ON: ATS32=2
Others:
AT&F1&B1&D2&H1&I0&K1&M4S7=60
AT&F1
---------------------
The string:
ATS12=20
in combination with no flow control and the rest the same, produces a low ping and what appears to be stable. Untested properly on CC.

when you're talking about pings, it helps if you mention which game your'e talking about. you see, for jedi knight, a ping under 300 is brilliant. under 500 is playable. just over 500 is dificult, but still playable.
in quake, 200 is crap

I begin to doubt whether Orchid will release more drivers, as since the buyout (they were bought by, er, Diamond I think it was), nothing has happened. I've been using the 3dfx reference drivers for a while now, too, as I needed the latest glide version.
I haven't really noticed anything wrong with the performance while uding them though.
