Right, i've come to the conclusion that i need to format my c original hdd. I usually do this at LANS, but as i have recently bought a new hdd, i have the space to back up all the stuff i want to keep.
The problem that i always have is that i forget to back up things like my favourites folder for IE5.
Can u lot make a list of all the things that you back up when formatting, so hopefully i won't miss anything important.
Cheers

export your address file to csv format and place in your new HDD, all your configs for games etc, dont bother moving any games etc since you have the CD's for them anyway...

Any cd keys tucked away in text files, like office 2000, norton utils 200 etc that you may have downloaded at a lan and haven't had time to install yet..

all things like quicktime installer, gamespy, game mods, all application setup files that you've acquired.

All naughty jpegs, mpegs, mp3's that have arrived on your old HDD by accident..if you haven't got any, I'll give you some at I4...(shush..I didn't say that...)

data files like xls, doc, ppt, for work..IE5 favourites folder...

errrrmm that's about it...oh and all the new drivers that you have downloaded for your sound card, video card, modem/isdn, network card, monitor, mouse that you haven't got on cd or backed up, then move them off your C drive as well.

Good Luck

also if u use icq - zip the entire icq dir and drag to a diff drive\partition,when u get around to reinstalling icq again do so normally but unzip into the same dir as the fresh install, that way u dont have to mess about retyping ur contact numbers again cos there already there http://forums.gameplay.com/ubb/teeth.gif

now u have the space to spare try this, make urself a new called backup and everything u download\cannot replace drag into this new dir like all those little usefull utills u forgot aint part of 98 untill u try using them hehe and win says file\dir not found :)
