I've got a K6 2 400 and I'm thinking of buying a K6 2 550, is it worth or shall I just save pennies until I can get a Athlon

Yeah, but you will have to buy new mobo and maybe new ram too :)

I wouldn't even consider getting another K6.2 which won't be THAT much faster than your current set up overall. I think you would massive performance gains with an athlon. I certainly think it would be worth the wait. Thats assuming the wait is not going to be more than 6 months?
Peace out and all around.

Zed m8ey, you obviously need a bit more performance so try and overclock the thing. I got my 450 upto 500 with no probs. I got it totally stable by bumping the voltage to 2.3 and lowering the DRAM timing in the bios. Windows, ie, etc are totally stable, as is Quake 3 - but expect crashes from some games - for me Fifa 99 for example. Give it a go - its money for nothing and chips for free! ;) (rofl at own crap joke)
If you're feeling adventurous as I will after I've finished my A-Level History exams, I'm bunging it up to 550 - might need an even higher voltage there.

well if you get a mobo based on kx133 chipset, then you can run memory at 133Mhz, for more performance. :)
