lo all,
I have just overcloct my p3 from 450 to 533mhz as displayed at startup, however when windows starts up i get to the second boot screen and i get a blue screen telling me windows has detected a fault in my registry files and is restoring them, then it resets only to do the same again.
I have bought a huuuuge heatsing with 2 fans on it to keep things cool, but i cannot change my voltage in bios or by jumpers, could this be the problem.
by the way i use p133 ram.
cheers

Try putting the chip back to normal speed else are you using two dimm memory modules???
If so try them on the own or are you using profiles in 98?
I've been reconmended 168 pin PC100 Dimm RAM 4 me puter. Whats the difference between PC100 + PC133? would PC133 work?

your hard drive may not like running the PCI to high, have you got a 1/4 divisor for the PCI bus on your mobo? :)

cheers guys,
The only profile on my system is the original one and i am only using one branded 128 meg pc 133 memory dim.
I have no pci divisor that i know of, is it a jumper?
my pc runs perfect at 450, but i need more power..
MORE POWER
:D

Its in your mobo bios, if its set to 1/3 your pci will be almost 39 MHz, some components like HD's dont like this, so try setting the divisor to 1/4 which will run it under spec, but at least you will now what the problem is :)
I read about this just the other day. Most peeps who have replied are right. Your Hard Disk is probably running too fast. To fix this go into the bios, and look for something that mentions IDE modes, it will probably be set at PIO MODE 4 or auto. Set it to PIO mode 3, and try, repeat going down until the system is stable.
I just clocked my 500 to 667 on pc100 ram, anyone have any ideas how much damage I am doing to the RAM (its not even warm), and I have 4 case fans ( 5inc the PSU)

you will doing no damage to the ram as most PC-100 modules have chips rated for 133Mhz anyway or at least 124Mhz. :)

what graphics card you got? If you have geforce you should get a BX board as they have much better performance than via133A boards.

Ok you must read this first, running at 133 FSB on a BX will put your Gfx card agp out of spec, but most geforces don't have a problem with this. I run at 155Fsb on my ABit BE6 v.2, so my agp is 103.3 :)
This board is excellent for overclocking and has great performance and stability http://forums.gameplay.com/ubb/monkee.gif

cheers m8 i thought about it but came to the conclusion that i dont really need a new puter @ the mo. I was umming and arring whether 2 upgrade or not and decided ill wait for mine to become really ****e. i.e. the equivelnant to a 233 now! Im gonna plonk another 64 RAM in so that should make a cheap difference but there is no point when i only play 5-10 gamez most of em dont require hi spec! :) :)
