Turning my pc on

well yeah, thats exactly what i cant do....when i turn my pc on it just gets up to looking at the motherboard then kinda does nothing. Doesnt get to detecting any hardware or starting windows, just hangs. Sometimes if i leave it for a few hours and then power it on it will load windows and stay running for a few minutes then the screen turns itself off and the pc hangs again (or i think it does, but i cant see anything :( )
Any suggestions?

What Spec?
If it's an Athlon it could be that ye aint got anought power, although that's a bit of a long shot.

List the POST beeps, the number and length of the beeps mean different things. Post the sequence and I'll see what I can do.

Does the board have a facility to check the temperature of the inside/chip?

My mate had this on a new board he used and never bothered reading the instuctions (duh!), hence leaving the jumper on the wrong setting, the board would lock up and sometimes turn itself it off as it thought it had gone into melt down http://forums.gameplay.com/ubb/teeth.gif

Calzor that sounds about right to what mine is doing a bit :)
well maybe something similar....and the beeps vary from the long beep followed by hd grunt to absolutely nothing :(
thing is i have run it fine for quite a while and now its just started doin it.
And its a p3 800 with geforce btw...

One long beep signifies, graphics card error. how many exactly, PSU failure or system board error is usually loads (technical term http://forums.gameplay.com/ubb/laughing.gif ) of beeps, or of course no LCDs

List the exact amount of beeps and length.

It varies :)
but sometimes the led on the main machine comes on, but once i turned it on, heard hummin but no lights.
