Cheapskate upgrade advice needed

k im wat ud call skint so i need an upgrade as cheap as poss
atmo i have

P233
64mb sdram
12 voodoo 2
4mb s3 virge dx
2.6gb hd
4.3gb hd
40x cdrom
56k modem external

was thinkin of an amd k6-2 450\500
i know ill need a new mobo as well but will it deffo go in my current case? and any ideas on how much improvement ill get over my current sys? as i wanna play q3 etc which i cant atmo :(
and lastly how much is a good price for an amd + mobo ?
remember gotta b cheap as im SKINT :p

A k6-2 500mhz is about £45-50 and a super socket 7 motherboard about the same.

How come you cant play Q3 on your current setup? It cant be that hardware intensive or can it?

i can run it on abosoloute min detail but it still jerks like a fecker if a lot is happinin on screen :(
in 1p its hopeless as soon as i reach a large map unplayable id say.....

Q3 is actually THAT intensive. It strains in 800x600 and even 640x480 with mid detail sometimes on my stonkingly powerful C433, V3, 128mb! All those hundreds of MHZ, ram and what do you get for your efforts...a kick in the damn chops.
