Right i have been reading about on the net and some dudes have been getting 816mhz outta my new processor which i am getting...
my set up will be:
533 Cel
Abit FC-PGA to Slot-1 adapter
Abit BE6-II motherboard
and pc133 128mb ram
v3 2000
So wot do u think?
I read a message board with loads of these processors going down and dying etc etc...
but they r only like 85 squid.....
and i may ask me m8 Devilman if he would like to o\c it for me
But i dont know wot do u think?
816 is pretty good.
and it even beat a athlon 750@818 in q3....
This is where i got all the info from: http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/celeron533aoc/default.asp
So wot ya think?
I am in mixed minds about it tho...

I am too considering a similar setup! I have a PC Chips Slot1 Mobo as every1 probably knows by now :) I obviously need the adapter but when checking out the info page on Dabs it said a bios upgrade may be necessary :( Thats kinda out of the question since i dunno the model and have no manual! :( How much is the Abit mobo that you stated above? I would suggest loadsa fans in the puter i.e front, back, CPU, 1of those big muther 1's which take up HD space or somfin :)
Is PC133 RAM a nescessity? + would it work with my current system? Is it a dificult job i.e adding adapters e.t.c? I spose ive thrown up more questions than answers
:(
Would the Abit S370 Intel 810 ATX be compatible? it takes celerons

With a new celly you dont need any new ram just pc100 will do, your system bus will be at 100 so it will keep everything in spec or you could maybe hit 112 FSB for the extra speed. You will want a good air flow in your case and a big ass h/s and fan cooling the cpu. The 810 is **** avoid it.
check www.overclockers.com (http://www.overclockers.com) they have an overclocked cpu database. http://forums.gameplay.com/ubb/smokin.gif

cheers m8, very useful :) im prob gonna ug my cpu with the 533 oc'ed 2 818 using a slot1 - fcpga or whatever converter. i hope it works :) would i just set multiplier 2 8 (since thats what it runs @) and leave fsb @ 100? that should hopefully = 818 ish

5477653 you will need a new mobo as the board has to support 1.5v which your mobo will not :( (Get an abit be6 v.2 about 95 quid)
Bugger thats a shame :( when i bought it, i was told that it would work with the celly as well :( :( b*stard!!! :( :( I think that im gonna ave 2 fork out 4 a new mobo but thats a real shame since funding may not permit it :(

Right I have:
Abit BE6-II
PII 450
GeForce DDR
SB Live
256MB SDRAM (128MB@133 and 128MB@100)
NIC FA310TX
56K Diamond Modem
I much like you decided that I wanted maybe a bit more speed out of my processor and I could oc it to 504Mhz with its original Heatsink and fan.
I wondered if I could get it to go higher after getting a new heatsink & fan, so I got the Globalwin VOS32.
I got problems with my Network card because it didn't like the PCI bus running faster and I couldn't go high enough so that I could set the PCI clock at 1/4.
The other major problem was the size of the heatsink & fan caused problems with the memory slots on my Abit BE6-II because 2 out of three of them got covered.
I've put the old heatsink back on and added one of the larger fans and it currently runs back at its original speed of 450Mhz.
Ocing is a hit and miss thing because of all the different parts of a PC can act differently when pushed a little more. I've heard of success but I've also heard many people having problems with their PCs.
Even with my 450Mhz proccessor I still manage to get a frame rate of 60+ at the highest setting on Q3A. I'm unlikely to bother ocing it again and I'm gonna be getting a P3-700 soon and I won't oc that either.
Couple of questions: :)
1. Will dual CPU mobo's run on Win 98? Does it quite simply add the CPU speeds together?
2. Do FC-PGA cpu's fit in the same socket as Socket 370 cpu's? i.e can u put a FC-PGA chip in a socket 370 mobo? or do they take the same mobo?
3. What do u guyz fink of the Chaintech CT-6WIV Motherboard? i am no expert on mobos :) Will that o/c nicely with the FC-PGA Celly 533? its 127 squid with the 533 @ Scan!!

You can run a dual cpu system on win 98 but it wont use the other cpu :(
FC-PGA celerons will fit in socket 370, but it has to supply 1.5v, FC P3's will not work.
I don't know about that mobo, but the BE6 v.2 is thought as the best o/c mobo, by many peeps, as it offers all kinds of adjustments.
Another good mobo is the ASUS P3B-F or the new ASUS CUBX(can't use slot 1)
hope this helps :)
1 final question,i was looking at http://www.abit.nl/english/product/index.htm where they show a slot 1 to S370 converter type thingy,Earlier you said that my mobo wont produce the right voltage but on the above site it says that the voltage is adjustable.
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana">quote:</font><HR>CPU Vcore adjustable (1.3v~3.5v) via Jumper <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
Ne ideas?

you could use that, however you wouldn't be able to reach as high as they only support 66/100/133, if your celly can't make 100 FSB your ****ed, the newest IWILL slocket is supposed to be the best one. You could try using that with your mobo, a good solution would be to get an ASUS CUBX then you wouldn't have to buy a slocket. :)
533 Cel
Abit FC-PGA to Slot-1 adapter
Abit BE6-II motherboard
Any ideas on the cheapest prices? I am probably gonna just order converter and Celly then if i have no success i will order mobo :)

I would check out dabs becuase they are quite cheap. That sounds like a good idea.
:)
But you must get a new FC-PGA celeron, PPGA are the old ones and are quite a bit slower.

You'll never guess what! I have found my mobo manual online!!! But the bad thing is that it only supports 66 and 100 mhz buses :( However its useful 2 know ahhh

If your talking about the BE6-II then the manual is slightly old since they improved the option to run at 133Mhz :). The reason it won't say supported is the fact the BX chipset doesn't that FSB in its natural state :).
Oh here is the link to the BIOS updates http://www.abit.com.tw/english/download/bios-be6r2.htm

why not just spend a little more and get an overclocked athlon from www.overclockers.co.uk (http://www.overclockers.co.uk) ? i know that involves a new mobo but i think you would notice difference
another question, embattle says he has 256mb ram 1x128Mb @ 100MHz and 1 x 128Mb @ 133MHz, an this be done? i thought you had to stick with one or the other ie. 2 x 128Mb @133

I only run the FSB at 100Mhz and since there DIMMs they don't need to be upgraded in pairs like SIMMs. They work fine so far, technically they say you should have the same make as well but all this is just for compatibility reasons.
