Most people will probably have heard that the memory on the Geforce2 isn't really up for it and is a bottleneck on the card. Most people who have these cards have already overclocked the memory above spec and see pretty good performance increases but there is a card which is coming in a month or two with super fast memory - clocked at 400mHz standard (all other geforce2 cards are 333 standard) which, it seems, can be overclocked way beyond that to over 470mHz. When this is done performance shoots up nearly 30fps on some high resolutions. Check out http://www7.tomshardware.com/graphic/00q3/000705/index.html for all the benchmarks. When these cards come along the V5500 will be blown right out of the water so just hold on to your wads of cash for a month or two yet!!

As for me, I'm glad I took my Geforce2 back to the shop when the memory wouldn't clock past 345 - I was going to get another when pay day comes around but there is no-way in the world I'll be doing that now!!

It would also seem that FSAA is actually going to perform quite well with fast memory - perhaps all those figures nVidia have been spurting out are actuall true about the processor, its just the memory which is holding it back.

Also in the conclusion page, the review mantions a new high performance card from nVidia, due Sept/Oct time, which is supposed to be able to work with the memory bandwidth limitations ... god I wish I could buy a card that would be top of the range for a year ... just ONE YEAR ... thats all I ask !!
