Well its been over two months down the line (November 99) I believe since I asked Wireplay to look at Nascar 3 since they have a serious lack of serious driving games, I also posted a link for a server frontend utility that could time the moment a server starts with a set configuration so we could maybe organise a league starting at set times, maybe even a beginners and pro league....at the time you said you were getting hold of a copy and would be testing it soon so I've held off asking and asking on here till now over 2 months on so whats the status please? will we see it on Wireplay?

For those who are sceptical of Nascar oval racing thinking it is boring then please try the demo (http://www.3dfxmania.com/games/nascarracing3.shtml) and see how exciting wheel to wheel racing is. Its not just all oval racing, there are conventional tracks as well but the thing is with Nascar Racing is that you never get somebody racing off into the distance making you feel alone on the track, its close racing all the way with lead changes regularly so come on Wireplay give it a go!

At the moment we are'nt gonna support and we won't support it at all unless they make a patch which makes the game work on wireplay. Sorry.

This is pathetic! same excuse time and time again, Wireplay bend over backwards to support all manner of 3D shooters and yet when it comes to flight & racing sims they just can't be bothered, my original post came at a time when Papyrus were asking for input for the next patch release, I told Wireplay this as surely it would be a good time to get closer with a developer to get the game running across Wireplay.

NeOn> I hear what you are saying but if Wireplay can support titles such as Big Red Racing and other arcade type games then surely this indicates that people may not be as willing to get into such hard-core sims as Grand Prix Legends (which I love but also won't run here) Nascar Racing 3 with its ovals is ideal for people to just turn up and race without worrying about learning the track and watching someone slightly more knowledgeable of the track disappearing into the distance and never seeing them again.

Revvin, you know we only have so much control over what the games can do - if it don't work, then often there's nothing we can do about it - it's got nothing to do with lack of commitment. I mentioned before that I take the lack of a really good racing game seriously, and we are looking at several avenues.

As for NR3, I haven't quite finished with it yet, and there are still some approaches I'd like to take, but the developers don't seem inclined to talk to us about it - I've contacted them in the past and got no reponse - I'd rather spend time talking to developers who ARE interested in our input than banging my head against a brick wall. I do intend to get us a really good server-based racing game, but I can't tell you how long that will take at the moment.
