www.mindrover.com (http://www.mindrover.com)

Not sure what WP would do with this but it is so good, it needs some kind of support http://forums.gameplay.com/ubb/teeth.gif

Design and build your own robots and send them to battle each other under their own control.

You design your rover from the chassis up, engine, sensors etc. Then you link them with wires and tell them how to behave. Then two or more rovers are put into and arena to fight it out while you watch and cheer them on. You have no control over them while fighting.

It can be played as an email or ftp game. I thought WP could do a ladder or secure ftp thing for submission and trialing of rovers. Or something similar.

You will never complain about bad AI in games once you've seen your stupid hover buggy blow itself up - what a larf http://forums.gameplay.com/ubb/stareup.gif

I've played the demo of this and thought it was awful.

Much better is AI Wars from www.tacticalneuronics.com (http://www.tacticalneuronics.com)
It is a programming game like mind rover with simpler graphics but a much better gameplay.

AI Wars, which I have tried in the past, is a programming game. MindRover is *not*! It has a graphical interface so anyone can get started. Neither has "gameplay" in the normal sense. AI Wars is poorly documented and relies on coding far too much IMHO.

Dunno about AI wars but don't see that this needs to be an either/or situation. Maybe both could be looked into :)
