View Full Version : If you could own these games...
On the assumption that you don't already own them, if you could have any of these older games listed below, which would they be (assume you could get them dirt cheap or something)? You can choose as many as you like. We are not talking about supporting them on Wireplay, mind, but just if you could own them.
This is a bit of market research for something we are working on, so I'd appreciate your input, ta.

Large and Blocky is best, is anyone developing Jet Set Willy for the Playstation 2?! They don't make them like that any more.

Manic Karts - bloody good fun, very underrated.
Creature Shock - total, complete toilet. Avoid.
Virtual Karts - if this is the Microprose one, another dud.
Slipstream 5000 - brilliant fun, although very easy once you get the hang of it. Trivia - they actually made this into an arcade game, one of the few examples where a computer game got into the arcades and not the other way round.
Screamer - very, very good, although the two sequels are better.
Outlaw Racers - amusing 'alternative' *cough* racer. Dire gameplay, but the driver characters are good for a laugh. For 5 minutes.
Screamer 2 - ahh yes, and here is one of those sequels. The original was road based, this is more rally based. Superb car handling.
Screamer Rally - gah, here's the third one. The tracks had got really long by this time, which meant they were a bit tricky to remember. This one had alternative routes and 3D card support. Good, but I preferred number 2 in the series.
Grand Theft Auto - I liked it, but it got a bit repetitive after a while.
If I wanted any, I'd have Manic Karts and Slipstream 5000, because I gave them both away and now wish I hadn't.
Most of the others are too old, to be honest. Falcon 3.0 must be, what, 8 years old now?

UFO Enemy Unknown - One of the finest strategy games ever made. Kept me busy for months. Recommend it to anybody.
Warcraft - Great fun once again.
Atomic Bomberman - Fun incarnate.
Mutant Penguins - No idea what this is, but with a name like that...
Cannon Fodder 1/2 - Great fun. Memorable song aswell.
Worms + Worms Reinforcements - Wonderful multiplayer, if I ever find out who has my copies I will be a happy man.
Screamer Rally - Good racer, though outdated.
I'd need to see the boxes for them.
No seriously - I'm a sucker for a top bit of blurb on the back of the box and a cover that has no real resembelance to the game.
And the craziest thing is I never learn either, every time... http://forums.gameplay.com/ubb/laughing.gif
But gimme:
Subwar 2050
Falcon 3.0
Tilt! (to remind me of those Pinball Dreams days on the Amiga :))
Jimmy White's Snooker
Baldies (only cos of the top name)
Army Men
Requiem
and probably some better taste in games :D
Thanks. That'll do for now - just wanted a quick vox pop :)

You are going to be selling Uprising off cheap? Has anyone told him?
There's so many stunning games there. They dont make em like that anymore. Though woulden't we need to run a pre-win 95 os to make most of them work.
My list would be:-
Dune, 7th Guest, Subwar 2050, Cannon Fodder, Beneath a Steel Sky, UFO Enemy Unknown, Atomic Bomberman, Screamer (inc 2).
Infact seen a lot of those on compilation CDs in a 3 for £20 offer at HMV.
And GTA is available free at www.freeloader.com (http://www.freeloader.com)

Fields of Glory, Cannon Fodder, Kick Off '97, Apache Longbow, UFO, Player Manager 2, Railroad Tycoon DL, Championship Manager 2, Screamer Rally.
UFO Enemy Unknown would be my 1st choice as it is one of those games that you can keep on going back to even though it is ancient!

Dune 2 perhaps, don't know enough about original Doom
Creature Shock - oh, I remember that. It was crap.
Fields of Glory - that was one of the first games I really got enthusiastic about. Saw it on a cousin's computer, wanted to buy it, didn't.
Cannon Fodder - yeeehaaa
UFO Enemy Unknown - OFFICIALLY THE BEST GAME EVER. BOW DOWN TO ITS BRILLIANCE. IT MIGHT BE A DECADE-ODD OLD BUT IT'S STILL INCREDIBLE! OK, so I've got it, but that's besides the point.
Railroad Tycoon Deluxe - s'not bad I spose
Worms - Which? United is good, but I've got it.
This Means War - that looked alright.
Cannon Fodder 2 (but I've got it)
Grand Theft Auto - that was a laff

I reckon they're looking into doing something mike freeloader.com are doing - 'giving away' games for download (paid for by the constant interruptions from their advertisers).
I can dream, anyway.

Outlaws or Outlaw Racers?
Outlaws - top FPS with clunky Dark Forces-derived game engine but top story and level design (and quite possibly some of the best cut scenes in any game ever).
Outlaw Racers - Pants.
(btw - I keep hearing whispers about Outlaws 2, but nothing concrete ever seems to appear. Shame really, as I thought it was a great setting for a FPS. Nothing like walking down the street in a town hearing shouts of 'Don't be a fool, Marshal', whilst you reload your Colt 45)

My first computer was an Atari ST520FM. there was one game that i used to play nearly all the time. It was called Midwinter. You had 160,000 square miles of game play area. This involved ski'ing, hang gliding, snow buggy and cable, car to move around and try to recruit members to assassinate the invaders leader,General Masters. It was a very good strategy game as not all the people that you tride to recruit didnt like aech other. So you had to be careful who you sent where. You just started with one player, namely Captain John Stark and then you send him to recruit a friend, and they then try and do the same. The more you recruit the more time you had to overthrow the General. some had good skills in some fields like sniping or explosives, while others was good drivers or hang gliders. If Microprose did an up dated version of this game i am sure it would sell like Half Life!
