Quoted from a previous thread:

"TO compare us to Barrysworld is not fair, as we are different. Barrys is a hardcore service and will never be mass market."

It's one of those quotes that was doomed the instant you typed it, go see. http://www.barrysworld.com/news/default.asp?Category=2&Item=13852

Never say never about an internet company.
Good Luck anyway, I suspect you may need it.

Loyalty is fragile, but most still have some.

Ho ho - yeh but Barry's are gonna still have to be able to talk to the mass-market gamer and at the moment they speak vey well to the hardcore. Try speaking to someone who has never played online before or has no idea of what 'lag' ping' or even 'server' is and even moreso doesn't have a blind clue that they need to 'patch' their newly bought copy of Quake 3 by some 8 megs on a 56k line- much harder than you think!

A new entrant into a crowded market ?

Will they survive ?

I suppose WP, MSZ, HEAT, kali,,,,,etc should be happy that REALITY is reaching out to bite the loony, freebie fringe organisations.

No, Uprising needn't eat his words, they where prophetic in way he probably didn't intend.

Question, will Gameplay make it ?

Doh wrong thread, but while I am here
Cara did you used to write a Q2 column for BW? If so it was always top notch and it was a shame you stopped, if you still write a column can you say where, if not why not :).[BL2]Deadman

You cannot seriously think they cant beat Gameplay? after all they've just nicked the man who was going to fix your dialup :).
And finding more ppl to do mass market stuff aint going to be difficult if they can get their hands on yours.
I curse the day Gameplay got their grubby little mits on what was the best gaming service. Even the dodgy dos client had things that endeared it. It was an excellent community and I paid a subscription I liked it that much, now I can't see a clear way through. I hope you find it. And thats the truth.
