Just wondering if any nice kind person would tell me how to do scrolly text boxes like the WP nightly info thingy. or at the least how to do text that scrolls across the screen, without using animations.

Hmm, I think you're after a java script 'ticker tape' type effect...
You should be able to find one easy enough by typing something like 'java scripts' into any search enging and navigating through for 'ticker tape' or 'news-reel' or whatever gh3y name they've called it http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif
Unless I'm mistaken you should be able to view the HTML for the page with the 'news-reel' on. Then yoou should be able to get an idea of how to do it for yourself if you're fairly knowledgable. Of course I'd never suggest you copy it directly (chaning words)since that may infringe on copyrights etc...

Tried that, but from what I could see, the actual code is not on the page, just a link to it, and the actual text itself as a seperate file, but seeing as my knowledge of HTML is limited to me looking at it after Dreamweaver has done what it's told, or not as often happens http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif
Will check the Java scripts advice, but in the past whenever I've tried to plonk scrolly Java text thingy's in bugger all has happened, worth another try though. http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/teeth.gif

Thanks so far for all the help and advice, was hoping some kind person from WP might actually read these boards and give me a hand, since they update their one every day! but then again, maybe they didn't do it themselves? as to change it they only need to alter the file with the text in, I could do that, Just couldn't get it working in the first place! http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/biggrin.gif

Have you had a look at it?
all I can find is a wireplanner cgi which is what I found last time, but all it appears to be is the text which is shown, this on it's own wouldn't work, surely.

So please, please, please anyone from WirePlay help me and come to the rescue, just let me know how to do the scrolly text box, is that too much to ask?
Instead of using a Javascript or HTML, the wireplay scroller is using a CGI program on their web server. If you don't have access to a CGI-bin on your web host, then forget trying to use something like the wireplay one. If you do have a CGI-bin, then here (http://www.cgi-resources.com) is a great site for finding free CGI scripts to istall on your server. Be aware though that it's all a bit complicated for a novice...

Cheers will check it out, already have quite a few CGI scripts on the site, so hopefully will be ok!
hmmm, tried a few, but to be honest they were quite cack.
will keep an eye out and try some more, but none are done the same way as the WP one, I want the text in a box so that it doesn't affect the rest of the page at all, most of the one's I've found so far scroll the text up the screen as layers which are only meant to seen when over a coloured box, but when there is lots of other text & images on the page, this doesn't really work, as you see the text scrolling over everything.
It also has to be easily changed, as each week it'll need updating.

the image or scrolling text is being driven by a .class loaded onto the webserver/isp in wireplays case the one you are on about is called "wireplanner.class"if you havent already get yourself a bit of software to view them(ie edit them http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif )buy it or download a shareware version when you've done this follow this link and download wireplays .class file from the website BUT DONT COPY IT THATS ILLEGAL ie look see how its done then do one yourself.
