USR 56k modem trouble

I'm connecting at about 44000bps, using Global Internet, but it's taking about 2-3 mins to download any pages, including this page.
And I can't even play any games using Wireplay, because my ping is so bad.(over 700).
Can anyone help.........please!

This sounds like a classic mate. Go to My computer/Dial up networking/right hand click on the WP direct icon choose properties and make sure that under the server types tab that enable software compression and TCP/IP are ticked. I hope this helps http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/wink.gif
