Just a few links to help you budding webbie authors out..

If you need web space, or have got an account with a nasty ad-banner account like GeoCitys, then take a look
here (http://www.freespeech.org) . This place offers 20 meg of un-advertised web space.. for personal use. Theres a few obvious restriction.. No pirated software on your space and the usual other free space restrictions, although under their 'free speech' charter you could get away with more than at for example Geocities. It offers no CGI-bin http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/frown.gif but then you could use it in conjunction with a CGI script provider like Bytecenter (http://www.bytecenter.com) or any remotely hosted CGI from the CGI Resource Index (http://www.cgi-resources.com)

You also can stream audio or video from the Freespeech web space...

Another useful web-site is Siteowner.com (http://www.siteowner.com) , which will submit your site to search engines for you, and give your site a general check-up and give you advise on all sorts of things.. Like for example telling you the time taken to load your index page at different connection speeds.

With reference to a previous post about checking your web-site in various browsers..
There are a few programs out there that will simulate different browsers for you.. So if you use Internet Explorer and don't want to install Netscape just to check your webbie.. use one of these programs. I can't find a link to a program right now.. I'll have a look and post one later. http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif

More stuff..
.net mag's page on how to use style sheets (http://www.netmag.co.uk/webbuilder/38stylesheets/default.asp) These are useful for bringing a single style to your whole site, by allowing you to easily keep the text colour and background image, and more, constant over your whole site.

One more link... Got a TV? Or even better, a TV card in your PC? Cool... But this is cooler.. go here (http://www.netmag.co.uk/software/freeware/gadgets.asp) and download the Digiguide software. It is a free online TV listings service which will update each time you connect to the web. So when you're offline, you can run the program and check whats on.. You can even get the program to highlight certain types of program, like highlight 'comedy' with red text. http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif

Hope some of this was useful to some of you... http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif
