Hi people, hope someone can help me out.

I've got an external Pace v90 Solo modem similar to Voice. Whenever i play quake2 on WP after 10 or 15 minutes it keeps flooding/retraining, i.e all the modem lights go on and i have to disconnect. This has been a ongoiung problem for me.

I've tried init strings but that don't seem to help, unless i'm using the wrong ones

this is what iv'e tried

+ms=12,0,41333,41333
and +ms=12,1,41333,41333
but it don't stop the modem flooding

Here are my settings:
Connect at 44000 bps
Errot control on (i can't connect if off http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/frown.gif)
Flow control hardware
no init string
software compression on
fifo buffers on 14,16
115,200 for connect at speed in DUN

q2 settings

i've reduced this to lower than normal
max_fps 25
rate 2500

i've got a p2 400 with voodoo2

Would reducing my connection speed to 33,600 or disabling v90 do the trick?

i've run out of ideas

Help

erm,

I had a similar problem with a oace 56 voice internal http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif

try changing the fifo buffers to 16,16 which solved the problem for me. I currently use no init strings and get smooth gaming in quake with a ping of around 120ish with the occasional spikes (like once a night or so).

also, have a look at :

www.nildram.co.uk/support/quake_results.shtml (http://www.nildram.co.uk/support/quake_results.shtml)

for other possible solutions to your problems

hope this help

thanks m8 i'll try that later on tonight.

Hopefully it will stop my frequent modem drops.

It's a real pain as you have to wait 10 minutes to login to wp quake2 servers again

You seem not know loads about modems http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif, from your experience would reducing the connect speed to say 33,600 stop my modem disconnecting?

Mafioso,

I'm sure someone else mentioned they had problems with their phone line dropping, and (i'm probably going mad) i think they got their line checked by BT (or it might have been a cable company). Apparently there was a fault which was rectified and everyone lived happily ever after (don't know if the prince got the girl - sorry !).

Good luck trying to persuade BT to check your line though....been there and it's hard bloody work http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/frown.gif

Cheers
