Haicom 56k External Poor WP Speed

The modem will connect to Lineone or BTI at 49k using v90 or 56flex, but will only achieve 32k on WP direct or WP intenet. I use the exact same settings for all connections, ie ms=12,1. I guess I must be doing something wrong, so any advice would be appreciated.

Coincidently my brothers modem with the same chipset 'rockwell' conects at 49k every time.

It sounds like your modems version of V.90 is not very compatable with the modems at WP. It does happen unfortunately, most commonly with K56flex modems that have been upgraded.

Try checking the manufacturers web site for the very latest drivers and/or firmware.You may get lucky in that they have released later drivers which are more compatable.

If all else fails, you'll have to access via BTI. But....keep trying WP every now and then as they do have plans to buy some modems that might be more compatable with yours.

I also have a Haicom56k. It is soooo annoying when u are in the middle of a game and either you lose your connection or it slows to an unplayable rate. Does anyone have a cure fot this???

Modem seems to be working fine now. Dunno why.
Has good speed and doen't crash no more!
