Is Diamonds supra express anygood for online gaming?

Its a simple question but is Diamonds Supra Express modem actually any good for online gaming?

Or is it naff compared to the others on the market compared with speed

I'll be predictable (as i own an external 56e PRO) and say "yes" in my experience they work fine. Pings of 150-220 in TFC and 150-200 in Half Life.

Usually connect at 4800-49333 to Wireplay
and 44000-46333 to BTI.

Others report good results from Pace 56k modems (i had also had one, excellant support site, good documentation, nice modem although i thought it was ever so slightly slower than the Diamond). Some report of good results with USR/3COM 56k modems (V.90 from the box).

i have to say that my diamond supraexpress internal is really quite crap for Q2 on the net. I get 250 ping at the least. However, it has worked quite well with wireplay over the months i.e 170 ping. Lately though it has become very unreliable and at times q2 has been unplayable. I am therefore gonna invest in a new pace v.90 modem until cable modems r available.

Excellent idea to have screenshots of the modem settings, makes it much easier than rambling on in "techno jargon".


Anyway just for anybody else reading this thread, I would definately recommend uploading the latest drivers for the Supra.

I bought my modem a few days ago, and upgraded the driver last night. My connection speed went up from 46k to 49k.

The driver installation was a quality piece of software. In short, I am full of praise for the Supra, a quality piece of kit from a quality company.

(Gee I should be on their marketing staff!!)
