Hi all,
OK I wonder how many of you have problems connecting to the internet at a speed above 28k with a 56K modem?(I should think it will be a lot).
When you phone BT up they say that you are on a DACS system you say to yourself "what the hell they can't do anything can they??" Wrong! if they do not explain what a DACS system is, here is a bit of information vital to you. Enjoy & read on....
Since the 56K modem has came out a lot of people have phoned to complain (don't blame em) Below is a little information which BT don't tell you when they put in a new DACS Line.
A DACS system explained :
DACS stands for Digital Access Control System. This can be found outdside your property underground in a manhole or on an outside pole. What BT do is use this system to make more lines in a way. Say they have 2 lines incomming they can use those 2 lines to get 5 DACS lines from. I am sure you know how this works just from me saying that. That is the reason for your Modem only connecting at 28K.
At the moment they seem to get round a lot of people, well this has to stop.
Just think how much money they make from people downloading I mean twice as slow lines.
Now I have 2 new lines in to my property & they are both DACS. When the engineer came round he knew that we were gonna use them for 56K modems on PC's thats why he placed the points by PC systems.
Well thats all for my moan at BT & I hope that BT can understand why I am so mad !! I don't want people to get caught out like I did that is the point of me posting.
Thank-you & Bye Bye
