When i download files form the internet i get long pauses of inactivity and it ****es me off!!!
Is there anything i can do to fix this??
I have a Diamond Supra 56e pro!
My isp's are x-stream and BT Internet!
I have the latest software and firmware!
and also how the hell doess my mate get download speeds of 4 - 6 kb/s on his pishy generic rockwell v90 jobbie from argos and i am lucky to get over 3!!!!!!!
snorbitz,
Err, kind of like answering "how long is a piece of string" as it could be so many things.
First off, it can't do any harm to ensure you have the latest firmware, here's a page all about the Supra 56e PRO with the URL of the latest firmware :-

Maybe you might also want to try some of the DUN and COM port settings that i use and see if they help.
Note that if you are downloding via Wireplay Direct then (i think) they deliberately limit the bandwidth available for surfing and downloading. So the problem might not be you at all.
Finally (sorry if this is obvious) but it mostly depends on the capacity of the FTP site your downloading from, it's location
and the capacity of your ISP. I use BTI and find them O.K. Not the fastest but not the slowest.
I'd guess that if you and your mate downloaded from the same site at the same time you would probably win.
Cheers

P.S You don't say what speed you connect to x-stream or BTI at ?

maybe you could try tweakDUN a util which streamlines dial up networking. see the link at www.sab.freeuk.com (http://www.sab.freeuk.com)
