Hi,

Previously -
Modular Technology 56kflex -> upgraded to V.90. Performance on WP ... pants. Wouldn't connect with V90 .. always established v34 connection. Ping of 300-450.

Next -
Motorola 56k ... was told it wasn't winmodem .. it was ! Disconnections abound when CPU maxed out .. that's even with a cely 300@450Mhz ! Even though it connected at v90,
ping was awful.

Then -
Generic 56kflex V90, (origo comms), wellmodem drivers ... performance on WP .. absolutely TOPS ! Ping 150-250.

I bought the 56k external fax/voice/data modem from www.ctcnet.co.uk (http://www.ctcnet.co.uk) , 49 quid + vat.

I don't hate modems anymore http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/shades.gif

I was informed that kflex/v90 is much better than x2/v90 in terms of reliability and stability.

But it just shows that my old Kflex/v90
wasn't the same as the new Kflex/v90. I looked at the rockwell site and there are
quite a few variants of '56k Rockwell'.

Cheers,

I have the Origo internal isa...I can thoroughly recommend it...brilliant performance for 35 quid!

Good to hear I'm not the only one with an Origo .. pants name eh ?

>> I think the main point still though is that a new Rockwell 56Kflex/V90 performs miles better than an old Rockwell 56Kflex/V90.

>> winmodems in the main suck big time.

>> If people have tried everything, like I did and get problems like not establishing a V90 connection, get a newer Rockwell 56KFlex.

>> TweakDun etc, didn't do anything for my connection and that was in Win95 with DUN 1.3. Now that in Win98 MTU is handled automatically, I don't think there's much need for it. Plus it's a false economy fixing it anyway, because HTTP/FTP/Internet Games all require different optimized settings.
