Basically there are password scripts written in java etc which are part of the webpage you do. This is used if you had your site hosted but didnt have any cgi bin etc. You have set up a page and with the correct password accessed it takes you to the page.

If you have cgi bins and all that, you could password protect whole directory folders but the first method should be aok for a members only page.

The only thing I can remember I have to hand is this:

password protection zip 49k (http://urbanfox.future.easyspace.com/ebgate12.zip)

depends on how secure you want it?

you could go for the simple but effective javascript password. Its not fullproof but it will keep out most people, and its easy easy to setup.
