View Full Version : Good free web hosting
Anyone know of any good, free web hosting. I know you don't get great thigs from the freebees but i would like a reasonably fast one with little or no adverts and 20MB+ space Thanks

Well theres several sites and it really depends if you want other stuff like cgi etc and what you want to use the space for.
Alot have some sort of banner or button others do not.
A couple off my head which be worth looking into as they offer unlimited webspace are:
www.madasafish.com (http://www.madasafish.com)
www.f9.net.uk (http://www.f9.net.uk)
www.barrysworld.com (http://www.barrysworld.com) offers hosting and other sites offer clan / game hosting.
www.freeola.net (http://www.freeola.net) offers 20mb and a number of extras.
www.freenetname.co.uk (http://www.freenetname.co.uk) is a cool place to go since you can get a free domain name, it would certainly be worth your while going to the website and having a read.
Some lists of free webspace providers are:

http://www.freeindex.com/webspace/

I use two quite good ones m8...
redrival ( http://redrival.com ) are great... 20meg of 'fast' free space, and for $20 they give you a www.yourname.com (http://www.yourname.com) address. Not bad.
Another one to try is Cable & Wireless ( www.cwc.net (http://www.cwc.net) ) who are fast, free, and you get the best free URL you'll ever find = www.yourname.cwc.net (http://www.yourname.cwc.net)

Well I can recommend http://www.freenetname.co.uk .
I registered with them yesterday, submitted a request for the free domain and now have a site at http://www.rafwa.co.uk along with no ads, no hassle and an email to use there of anything@rafwa.co.uk. There really doesnt seem to be any catches, you have to use their dialer at least once every 30 days or so, but its the standard 0845 deal so makes no difference at all. I spent 8 hours online last night using their dialer and had no probs, disconnects or lag. Easy to setup, free and no catches, plus you get the URL that you want with no crap in it.
Check it out. http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/teeth.gif

Crosswinds gives you (free) unlimated web space and no adverts which makes it one of the best and also its just had some new servers put in so the pages come up quickly.
The only downfall is the address you get normaly www.crosswinds.net/~yourname (http://www.crosswinds.net/~yourname)
If you dont like this address you can get in touch with an address redirection service like V3 this gives you an address of welcome.to/shrubworld or come.to/ferritland.
Another address redirection service is CJB with this you'll given an address like www.shrubworld.cjb.net. (http://www.shrubworld.cjb.net.)
Crosswinds- www.crosswinds.net (http://www.crosswinds.net)
CJB- www.cjb.net (http://www.cjb.net)
