Yes thats the modem I've got and I'm having problems gettting onto wireplay with it. In fact I am gettting a 'Sorrry-this link is invalid message.
I've read some of the wireplay help files and it seems that wireplay does not support this sort of modem.

Does anyone know how to get round this?
Or do they know how to play online (hl) with something other than wireplay. http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/teeth.gif

Are you sure you have CLI (calling line identifier) active on your phone line ?

WP have recently enforced the use of CLI so without it you can longer connect. Call BT (or whoever you use) to check if you are unsure, or search for CLI on the help desk forum for various ways to check and/or enable it yourself.

I have never known WP reject connection attempts based on the users modem type.

I have tried to change my settings according to wireplay's help (?) It advises changing the telephone number of 'wireplay direct' in the D.U.N folder. This seems to have no affect.

Know anything more? I'm getting on the phone to B.T.
......
Apparently I have got CLI and I've buggered up all my wireplay phone numbers. Looks like I'll just have to play by myself.Again.

Did u try enabling winmodem support in wireplay software?

I had a more cunning plan than that.

I installed version 2.30 instead of the out of date 2.20 that I had.

Then I changed the numbers again and hey it actually worked and I'm in wireplay.

But you know life just gets worse and apparently I cannot authenticate with won.net for playing halflife. Invalid id or something.

My hl is version 1.005 and I seem to need version 1.010. I have a cd patch for this but ironically it only works for the 1.009 version. I am currently downloading a .5 to 1.0 version and guess what, it's gonna take a couple of hours.

I had the same modem and I could play hl, but with a ping of 300-400. You could try downloading gamespy www.gamespy.com (http://www.gamespy.com) which searches for the best hl server for your connection, if you can't connect to wp at all to run this, get a barrysworld free account to do so, which you can get at www.barrysworld.co.uk (http://www.barrysworld.co.uk) and run gamespy once your connected to barrysworld, you'll get the same pings as with wp, at least I do. hope that helps if you can't get wp to work, ned

Oh wow thanks Ned. Maybe there is a god. Unfortunately after about 24hrs of trying to play it had to bloody work didn't it.
