My modem's connection speeds

I've been seeing a lot of people recently with pings of 130 etc. with 56k modems. Mine is constantly at 210-250. The thing is, my connection speed it 49333, which is far from shabby.

Need to know your modem make and model ( and general PC specs can be useful) to help really mate.

It's also useful to tell us how you access WP (WP direct or another ISP) or if you are in fact just gaming elsewhere on the net.

It's a Diamond SupraExpress 56e pro

My computer's a Dell P3-500 128 mbs RAM
Riva TNT and TBS Montego 2 sound, though I doubt u needed 2 know that.

The general rule for getting V90 pings is to turn error control OFF and enable software compression ON (both in DUN settings). I'm not sure if this will work for your modem, but it's worth a try.

Ahhh, that's better.

As Kuzag says, try turning "software compression" on (under server types) but "error control" and "compress data" OFF (under advanced connection settings.

Screenshots and full config details are on my web page (at bottom of message). Once you've done this, read the bit about STAC compression on my site, and see if it's working for you. That will probably work very nicely with your PC specs.

BTW - It will depend on the games you play ?
Yeah - some games i could probably get low 100's, but others i certainly won't (TFC for example). Don't worry too much about your ping, it's not that high, but it oculd probably be better.
