MouseOver Events and Stuff

Erm..yeah. As I said in some other thread I'm quite new to web design. Don't know much HTML let alone Java so I spose Im a bit forked here really.

But we try. So, I have a .gif (might make it a .jpg actually) On top of this I want some buttons (I'm using dreamweaver and layers cos I have no idea how else to do it) I can insert a rollover image into a layer to create the effect of a button without problem. but I would like to move the mouse over a button and have some text expalining the link pop up somwhere else on the page (maybe in another layer...?) And I guess this is javascript or something. Any ideas?

I know that's a bit vague, I'll post the url of the site if I can get around to uploading it today.

If you mean you want an alert when the mouse goes over you image then you can use HTML.

<IMG SRC="http://www.whaterver.com/image.gif"
border=0 onmouseover="alert(this will apper in an alert')">

I think that should work..

Having just re-read what you want, I can tell you it's not what you want.

I think it's style sheets or something....

reading what u say i think i know what your after take a look at this tutorial i found on the net and tell me its what u want ive had a naff day and nothings gone right so please post back and say today has been worthwhile in some small respect :(

Yeah thats exactly what I'm after. Except where you've got text link I want to use rollover images (buttons)

I think I have what u need on my site.
Follow the link until it opens the popup then use the orange links on the main page. Is that what u mean? If it is I'll send you a tutorial on how to do it.
