i need a web host that is free as i am student and have no money , as i will proble get the ubb full licence £170 i am with free net name any sugestion i.e does bt do it ?? or gameplay/wireplay do it like support cgi/ubb ( i am new and learing it)

if you want to run a UBB, get the trial one and try to install it first, just to see if it works b4 forking out :)

I'm with freenetname and they dont support custom cgi scripts, only their own for forms and hitcounters.

Virtualave support custom cgi and i have also installed a trial UBB here (http://hlcs.virtualave.net/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi)

Virtual Slave does NOT allow UBB msg boards as [ITV]Immulsifier found out.
He spent ages setting it up, and they went and deleted it.

Anyway, most cases your own CGI Scripts are on ISP/ Web hosts who get money for you to use their site and are not free.
www.freethought.net (http://www.freethought.net) do 75mb, email and CGI Scripts for $10 a month.

Why not try Jolt.co.uk and their free webspace with cgi or Games Inferno offer a good free hosting as well.

Freeloa offer free webspace and cgi I think.

And if your a struggling student why buy UBB for $170 dollars, theres Ultraboard 1.62 or 2000 which are free, you can get a freeversion of the UBB and theres certain legal hacks on their sister support pages that add some of the features that are included in the full version. If you just need one forum for your clan or whatever other peeps often would host you [ Game Inferno offer a forum option if you host website with them I think? ]. So the options are there before handing the monie over.

Also look at the 2 options of using Ezboard or Gamers.com messageboards. The latter is poorer since they updated it but the former gives alot of flexiablity. And the best thing you dont need cgi and they are both free to use.

If u want u could go to www.ezboard.com (http://www.ezboard.com) and get a free one that looks like UBB but has a load of banners on the bottom which no one really notices anyway. :D :D :D
