have a look slime, at my modem prob? please

Hi dude's I have a 56k external modem, which is made by purteck I think. FCC no h52pt-3020
driver date 10,29,1998.The problem being the modem work's great on the internet and wireplay no problem there . The problem I have is when I try a use my modem to dial up my mate house or him dialing me,on most of the game's my modem cannot seem to make that final handshake.Game's like total annihilation being a example. Is there a setting to change on my modem to fix this problem and dose anyone know of a update for my driver many thanks . INTRANETS

Sorry it took me a while...been busy recently.

I suspect it's just an incompatability problemm between 2 56K modems. 56k modems are muc harder to get talking together as the standard is still settling down.

I would suggest you force both modems down to V34. Although this will only give you connections at max 33600 i suspect it will be a lot more stable connection.

This URL http://www.56k.com/trouble/interop.shtml should give you enough info to diable X2/K56flex and or V90 on your modems and force them to use V34.

Otherwsie, your best bet is to ensure that both modems are exactly the same make+model and use the same drivers and firmware. Then you should have no compatability problems.
