Hi all. As a few of you may know I use flash 4 quite a lot and have recently started work on my first flash site. http://www.btinternet.com/~immulsifier is the url if you want to take a look :) I am thinking of doing a bit of design for peeps on the side and I would like your comments on the layout, navigation and overall look of my site.

Thanks for any comments.
Imms :)

On the homepage, if you have to have the Java Browser Window in, i'd put a JPEG/GIF picture of you're logo to fill the screen and you click it to enter the site. This could also close the existing browser window, so people don't have a redundant window open. Otherwise the design is fine: clear, simple, quite attractive. But, if you're gonna be doing web sites for other people I'd make sure when you use flash you also write an HTML equivalent site, so people who don;t have flash can view the content even if its not going to be as pretty or interactive.

I agree, good site but the back redundant page can be made a bit more attractive or u can get rid of it completely. However i dont agree with the bone head above coz if u look at stats over 7million computers support flash, basically u can forget the minor rest or put a link to the flash upgrade page so that they have the chance to upgrade to flash. Because writing a non-flash version of any site is very tricky and hard.

7million computers is by far a minority of web users! However consider that most people who view your site are going to be gamers and so are likely to have flash, so it is ok
to use flash

writing a non flash version isnt really that hard, granted u need to do some clever little tricks but most can be done using directx/directanimation coommands e.g. curved corner icons only really need to use 1 or 2 files and then flip them

The site looks good at both 800*600 and 1024*768 which is your reward for using flash :). all in all a nice site with a clean interface.

That is exactly the reason why I decided to do the site in flash. I did have a html version of the site which looked a bit boring and looked really bad when viewed above 800*600 resolution. Keep checking the site as I am learning new tricks all the time and it is going to get a lot more interactive over the near future :)
