TWEAKS FOR DIAMOND56IV PRO NEEDED

i have visited slimes weby and taken his tips
but i need more tweaks for a
diamond int.. 56k i pro modem any help app...

Hi,

Questions...questions....here we go :-

1. Have you changed or added anything on your PC recently ?
2. Did it start around the same time as the lastest Q3 demo was released ?
3. And, are you sure it's not just Q3 - have you noticed any other games slowing down ?
4. How long have you had the modem ?
5. Have you ever downloaded new drivers/firmware for it ?
6. What connection speed do you get ?
7. Do you use any in-game tweaks (such as fps_modem, rate, pushlatency etc etc).

Sorry about all this, just trying to narrow down the cause of your problem.

theres new drivers available at www.diamondmm.co.uk. (http://www.diamondmm.co.uk.) that took a bucket load of my ping.
I now got all time low of 118 with a 45333 connection using a diamond supraexpress 56iPro VCC (phew! :p).

Out of interest i asked on the Q3 board what pings other guys got and yours does'nt look so bad now i've had a few responses.

It looks like 180 is reasonable, most guys finding up to 240 when things get busy. However, everyone is saying that WP is giving bad packet loss at the moment whereas they're not seeing on the OpenPlay or net servers (or when using other ISP's).

Maybe you want to have a look at the thread then decide if you think it's your prolem or WP's ???

sorry slime for not geting back 2 u sooner
but its that time of the year m8
no tweaks push lat or any of that,yes i admit its got worse since q3 1.09 came out but i think im the only one with such a bad ping.
i have new drivers from diamondmm,
i have visited THAT WEBBY u go on about (lol
wee joke m8 http://forums.gameplay.com/ubb/shades.gifand it helped a bit but its still not grate although the w/p service (in my opinion) isn't what it used 2 b for what ever reason i don't know,in their def there's
more people using it now

razor,

I would try some in-game settings to control the flow of data when yu're playing. Look or ask on the Q3 baord for some help. These settings (such as fps_modem, pushlatency and rate) can really help during a game.

If not, then come back here and we'll see what else might be wrong.

however i did at onetime get a connection speed of 49000bps why does this change ????
depending when i connect 6pm-10 45333

Okay i got the same modem as the bloke @ the top of the page...i use WP direct and BT i got the latest drivers (got em a week ago) and my ping is around 170 not using STAC compression i would like to use it to see what happens but your tips won't make it work...any ideas slime??

Hi,

STAC will only work with WP Direct - does'nt work with BTI. You also need WIN95 Dial Up Networking V1.2 or above or WIN98.

Does any of that answer the question ?

Sorry mate it don't.....I am running '98 and it is trying to connect to WP Direct....I need a step by step walkthru/spoon feeding kinda guide for me (as i'm not as fast as some say i am...i'm only a C++ programmer lol)
