My modem is satan in disguise.

Diamond SupraExpress 56i Sp Intl

AFter my recent defrag it has been possessed, it connects at useless bps if it connects at all, and once it had connected it cuts off when it feels like it!!! :(

I have new drivers etc etc

I am fed up. What modems (internal ones) can peeps recommend? I know Pace have great rep...but are they still bankrupt? I am steering clear of Diamond...are USP/3COM any good? When is the gaming modem coming out?

I need help...seriously!

This is my third attempt posting this ffs :(

Slime you're my last hope...

Hi mate,

Is'nt the SP the pre-V90 version ? If so, the latest (and maybe only) drivers are here (ftp://ftp.diamondmm.de/comm/56k/se56w9x.exe). But if you 've got those and you don't want to try and solve the problem....

Pace are still in receivership AFAIK. I've not seen any stories about them since going into receivership.Although their webby (http://www.pacecom.co.uk/) is still up at the moment.
I'd be tempted to get one (then get the latest drivers ASAP from the webby) if i could find one cheap enough.

Apart from that (if you are determined to stay away from Diamond) it looks like you're only left with USR/3COM. You can't go far wrong with USR modems, particularly as WP use 3COM equipment. They're widely available and massively support. Personally they're not my favorite but many people like them. As usual, just be absolutely sure to avoid the software models.

The 3COM gaming modem is still not available in the UK (again, AFAIK) but check my webby (under recommended modems) for some links to US reviews for it, if you think you might be interested.

'nuff said
