I KNOW THIS HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH MY MODEM!?

I have a diamond supraexpress 56i V PRO modem with the latest drivers and all that, and everytime I use any of my ISPs, web pages take longer to load and my connection is always idle! I try to FTP my web pages to my clan site (www.thefallenangels.co.uk) and my modem just goes idle and dont do sh1t! It's the same thing when I try to go online with my ICQ, it just stays idle with the flower next to it changing colours from green to red. This is the most annoying thing I have seen and was wondering DOES IT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH MY MODEM!?

I am open to suggestions Slime and other people.

P.S. Did I mention I can't receive my e-mails?
P.P.S. ISPs I use are screaming.net, freeserve, freenetname, WP direct+internet, madasafish and barrysworld.
P.P.P.S. I dont want any messages saying "bad luck" or something! I want straight answers
P.P.P.P.S. Did I mention that the WP servers show up as failures? ALL of them. :(

Errrrr, it sounds like something more fundamental with your PC to be honest. Have you defragged, reinstalled, upgraded, overclocked etc etc etc recently ???
Have you switched phone lines or companies, have you switched phone sockets or phone cables ? What O/S you using there mate ?

Also, what weird and wonderful stuff you got running the backround when you connect ? How many modems you got installed on your PC ?

What Dun config you using - does it vary from ISP to ISP (i.e. software compression for WPD and hardware for others that don't support it ??).

Longer than when ? Recently or since you did something.

have you been messing with ya registry settings at all?
i did it once using a program called DUN optimizer, i found that i hadn't ticked every box i had to http://forums.gameplay.com/ubb/stare.gif and i updated the registry and the exact same thing as whats happening to you now was happening to me............if you havent touched registry i dunno http://forums.gameplay.com/ubb/cry.gif

I havent defragged my PC, overclocked it, or upgraded it but I have resetted it to my factory settings (i.e. clearing my PC and installing the software that was with my PC when I bought it -courtesy of PC world) and I ummmm...switched to localtel 3 months ago. I am using windows 98 and I have Lockdown 2000 v5.0 (gr8 anti-hack program), BlackICE defender (another one), norton antivirus 2k, my mouse drivers (genius mouse), and that's just it. I cant run ICQ no more :( so help!
My DUN config does vary from ISP to ISP, with software compression for WP direct and for all the other connections but besides from WP direct+internet and barrysworld, every1 has error control on and freeserve uses a proxy. And trust me, they all support it.
Webpages take longer to load since this happened. the icon (the 2 screens in yer taskbar) goes idle for a few minutes then it starts to load the page. This incident happened last night when I got home after my cousin just pressed the on/off switch on me PC instead of shutting it down right :( *******. Hope this helps!

No wonder i could'nt get into your PC when i tried ;) If these are all running in the backround when you are online then please stop them first then see how it behaves. I appreciate the need to have hack defenses but we have to elmininate them as the cause.
