Diamond modems are worse than Win modems

I used to have a internal win modem, now I have an external Diamond SupraExpress 56e/i pro, yet get worse pings and lower connection speds, can anyone tell me why?

I haven't had a problem with mine. Ping 150-170 on Kingpin and 4kps downloads.
