I bought this modem a couple of days ago hoping to upgrade on my lame old 33.6 (well i though it was lame) and i was just wondering whether enybody knows the difference between this modem and the 56e PRO. i heard people going on and on about how good the 56e modems were and i didnt think it would make much difference whether i bought the memory or the PRO as i think they were about the same price. Ive noticed a good increase in speed when surfing (although i can only connect at around 45000 with my lame BT line) but my pings have dropped quite significantly since using my 33.6. :(
I used to get pings of around 160-200 on the old beast but now im lucky to get less than 200. has anyone else got this modem and got any tips for getting my old ping back? (and dont say put the old one back in cos it was stepped on :)

hehe

cheers

Rob

p.s i dont know if this makes any difference whatsoever but i know how sometimes people always ask you what ur specs r so my system is an Athlon 550 with 128MB RAM, SB !Live 1024 and a anihilator geforce 256 pro. just to let you know it ROCKS. aprt from the ping.. :( arse!

Hi,

Can you configure your DUN the same as i show on my webby. If that doesn't make any difference then pls post back here.

BTW - The memory version is identical to the 56e version although it has permanent memory suitable for taking answerphone messages. That's the only difference that i know of.

Cheers

I have tried to implement your DUN tweak guide settings onto my wireplay direct connection settings but now i cant connect (it wait a while when verifying username and password and then disconnects saying I have been disconnected from the computer i dialed into. :(
I have downloaded the latest firmware upgrade from diamond but i havent flashed it yet cos im not sure what version i have in the modem already and i dont know how to find out. how?
i did get a new extension cable with the new modem which i have been using instead of the old one but would this make a difference?

thanks
Rob
