I'm starting to get annoyed, every game I play online I always have pings of over 600 when I play online on my 56k modem! I have tried your modem and DUN guide, but it didn't help. Please someone help me!!!

A little more info may help, like system spec including modem type.... http://forums.gameplay.com/ubb/teeth.gif

Time PC (that might be the problem)
128mb RAM
370mhz
AMD K6 3d processor
windows 98
PCI56RVP modem (got it with the PC)

Hope this helps!

Hi mate,

"You have been Timed" !

The PCI56RVP is possibly, nay definately, the worst modem i have ever had the displeasure to own. And i agree completely - it is useless for online gaming.

Unfortunately i also bought my PC from Time and got the exact same modem with it. Hell - that's basically why i'm here today as i had to find out loads about modems to figure out what the problem was.

So......if you want to play online games then you will have to buy a new modem. There are some suggestions on my website.

Sorry, i know it's dissapointing when you've just shelled out loads of dosh :(

Cheers

Can you recommend a modem? I was thinking the 3com gaming modem, but it is not out in this country yet.
