Hi ya

I want to use a font called HandelGothic, but if I upload it to my website and someone views it without that font on their system, then it displays the text in some other font.

Is there anyway to force them to use that font, or auto download it?

you should make main text a standard font, with a headings in funky ones (pictures)

-----No, you can't (at least very simply), and don't do it. Custom fonts are a) annoying b) a hassle to install c) unreadable (most of the time) d) pointless.

If you really really must force the user, then create a link to the .ttf file, so the user can then download, install it, then reload the page all over. Anyone gonna do that? No, not really.

Bottom line: stick with standard system fonts, you wont go wrong.

hmmz.. actually .. i think there is a way. I remeber going to a web site about it. It said there was a way of just inserting a code to use a custom font and the user to be able to view it (without downloading it).

Check out www.microsoft.com. (http://www.microsoft.com.) I remember something about it there. It only works on Internet Explorer 4x though. Just goto some Internet Explorer section... you should find it..

I wouldn't bother myself though. If you must then just make the text you want an image. Limit the colours to like 2 though so it's super small :)

What I would suggest is to have the custom font as preffered but then back it up with more common fonts i a font list, this way the default browser font doesn't have to be used.

According to Microsoft you can embed fonts into you HTML code in IE4x and above. How it works is beyond me!
