Right the story goes:
I had an internal PCI Rockwell modem (HSF). I was getting okay game play from it but wanted an external one (don't like internal modems).
So I nipped down to (sing it) PC World and picked up a Zoom 56k USB Modem model number 2987L.
Ever since I installed it I have had really good connection rates (46000 - 52000).
Now the crunch. When I play TFC every few seconds I get major packet loss. Then it returns to normal.
I have "r_netgraph 1" running and I get the pretty little green spikey line across the middle section.
When I get the major packet loss (big red spike) they lasts for about half a second.
I have messed with the "rate" command and get the same.
Now this is really begining to p*ss me off.
My cheapo Rockwell £20 modem works well and an £80 Zoom craps up my game play.
Please could someone offer atleast a reason for this to be happening.
My next stop is PC World to say its knacked and to get me a standard COM port version.
Thanks in advance
