USRobotics Winmodem, need help to configure, slimester pls help!

OK, when i got my computer just over a year ago, i was just plain dumb and didnt inquire as to which modem the system had. It turned out to be a US Robotics Winmodem. Peeps have been raving that they have configured their winmodems for a constand 160 ping on counterstrike. I followed all the instructions on lagless.com but my ping still fluctuates from about 155 in corridors to about 240-80 in large open areas or huge gunfights (my pc spec is a p2-400, 128 ram, voodoo2). if you, slime, or anyone else can give me some advice on how to better configure this beast id be most greatful.

Definitly limit your connection speed, to about 46666 seems good, do this with the following init string AT&N31, reduce/increase the number at the end to change the connection speed experiment, but I have found 46666 to be the 'stablest'.

AHH i sypathise entierlly. i 2 own a crappy winmodem i got when ignorant.

i get 140 ping tops, but it aint constant!!

i would suggest reducing the detail settins and resoloution u r playin with, that might take the strain off a bit.


longterm do what i gonna do, get a HARDWARE EXTERNAL!!!!!
