Half Life Problems

Im having a problem with getting half life to run, ever since i changed my soundcard, from Soundblaster Live! value to Soundblaster Live!Retail. It comes up with an error once i try and update it to version 1.0.9, the error reads "Your Half-Life executabel has been modified. Please check your system for viruses then reinstall Half-life." Can u help me out?

Have you checked for viruses?
maybe try to remove the device in device manager and reboot, this should reinstall the drivers again.
As a last resort you could try putting it in another pci slot as this will force win98 to re-assign irq etc...
