BT engineers will be performing essential maintainance on the Wireplay servers today (3 June 1999). The servers aren't actually being taken completely off-line, but customers may experience trouble connecting to Half Life, Quake, Quake 2, etc., at various times during the day. We anticipate that the work should be finished late afternoon/early evening; watch this space for an update.

The engineers have now given the all-clear, and told us that the servers are back on their feet and feeling fine.

Ok it seems that my engineering mates were a bit optimistic when they said Wireplay was up and working fine.

At the moment we have a problem, with Mud II/Half Life and the connection between powerplay and the web.

The guys are working on the problems and hope to have them sorted soon, watch this space for further updates.

I agree with VELVET - a status and known problem page would be welcome and save me a lot of fruitless tweaking. It is my inferiority complex - I assume it is my fault until I've proved otherwise.

This is the way to keep people happy who don't immeaditely say "WP U SUK, SORT IT OUT NOW U B'STARDS" when they encounter a problem (generally we're a bit more understanding but it doesn't mean we don't get ****ed off occasionally http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif).

Luckily I was watching TV last night and apart from adding a crouch toggle to my set up didn't actually play mp. No frustration for me (least night)!

Status page please.... would be nice (and obvious I'd have thought).. cos I fiddled with loads of stuff last week and ended up reinstalling the wp software twice (don't ask) only to find the fault was at wp's end....

shall we have a new topic for this???

as we got the modem forum (yipppeee)

Hmm, well having been one of those 'BT engineers' doing the upgrade (actually it was me, Drilla, Slash and Stikky), it would have been a bit tricky to provide an accurate status update page, 'cos we were working our socks off and fixing things as soon as we found them.

Taking time out to tell you peeps the exact up/down status of any server would have almost taken an additional resource sitting at a keyboard.

(I'm reminded of the Fawlty Towers episode when Basil gets phoned up by Sybil to get told to put the picture up, which he just put down to answer the phone to be told this http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif )

I think what Wireplay Borg posted was about as good as you're going to get.

Perhaps, we can do a Real Audio feed from the server room next time http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif

It would have to heavily edited for controversal language I fear (mentioning no names, ahem Slash)..
