quake 2 problem

my quake 2 works fine with my joystick but when i go on wireplay it doesn't it wont fire and i dont think the other players can see me i've tried to change the buttons but it dont work i can also walk through walls and floors and i can fly also i cant pick any guns up and i dont even have one to start with this is getting on my nerves some one please help

you'd have been better off in this case to post this to the q2 messageboard.

this is spectator mode - everybody starts in it until they tell it to start playing or they join a team (for team games)

ok, go into your inventory, and follow the instructions to play/join a team!

speno -- from qview, you should highlight and join whichever server you want to, after which you should see loads of stuff scrolling at the console for a few seconds. The console should then disappear, and you should be presented with a box in which you're given the option to Join Game. Just hit Return when the cursor is against Join, and you should find yourself in the game. Simple as that.

Incidentally, if you're using a joystick to play Quake 2, and you're happy with that...fine. But I (and probably most other Quake 2 players) would recommend that you get used to playing with a keyboard/mouse combination.
