For £24 a month you can now get a 712K downstream satellite connection to the net from eurosky. Upstream is obviuosly from your modem or ISDN + local call charges meaing its an Assymetric connection. All though you do need to fork out £100 for a dish and £200 for a decoder card. But if they get enough subscribers they will waive the call charges.

Not bad if you want hi-speed access NOW!

Yer, Satellite access is allegedly very poor for gaming. It apparently causes packet loss due to the pretty damn large delay. I'd say that while the speed is good, you're covering a heck of a distance in comparison with modems....
