Ive set one of these up on each forum:

Ok, it doesnt seem that our e-mails are getting much attention from BT about the incredibly dire performance they are expecting us to put up with.
I am starting this post with the intention of mailing it to BT so that they might take a little more notice.
What I want from you is just to post a reply and say why you are unhappy with BT FREE (shouldnt be too difficult to think of some reasons). I'm going to see how this one goes and I shall then post it on different boards. I am pretty fed up with the whole shambles.

Moan away

I don't know how big a response you'll get from this board but I'm happy to put my name down...

I just get really bad pings and a slow connection of 42K (I've had 45K on Wireplay direct)

I'm not feeling very moany (for once) http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif

BT FREE
Its actually getting worse for me
Playing Quake used to be crap
It is now impossible
Using the net is also getting slower
I made comments about 0800 before
Why is not possible for to name Wireplay as a free number at weekends - then my problems would be sorted - we know why

Performance is diabolical. The only reason i signed up with BT was for the access to WP. Whats the point when games are tottaly unplayable.

Agree with everything said so far.
My team fortress ping has crept up from a just about playable 300 ish to 700!! ovwe the last five or six weeks and general internet access is not much use either, i couldn't even retrieve my e-mails the other weekend without timing out.

i've e-mailed them 3 times with no reply and am absolutely amazed at their arrogance and apparant contempt for their PAYING customers.

I hope you get a big response mate coz something has got to be done. Maybe mention it on the other forums especially the action type games where ping is king.

I just DON'T use BT internet dial up's at all.
The performance is the worst of all the ISP's I have tryed and I have dial ups for FITHTEEN free ones,+ Claranet(paid)
I ran a Batch test(ret'eving a set amount of web pages+ a true line speed test via NET-MON)on all of them and BT came LAST.
It is a shamefull thing when one of the largest telecom company's in the world with resou's that dawf other companys on a global scale has such a low reguard of it customers.
BT have for years held back the development of the internet by opp'ing the setting up of free ISP's with OFTEL only offering a free sevice after it was clear that they could not get the other ISP's banned, they were the last to offer this service and THEY ARE THE NATIONAL PHONE COMPANY FFS!!!
It angers me a lot because my father worked for BT on the design for System X(electronic exchanges)so I know that BT could have done things very differ'ly.
They have had the tech for ADSL for many years but did not want to interduce it because it would im'ply a flat local call rate.
Be under no illusion local calls make BT a large amount of it's escalating profit's and ADSL is seen as a threat to this.
Keeping the UK in the dark ages on V90 modems is seen as cost effective(large profits,no outlay on investment to the inf'sturture see the speed of the BT ISP ;D)
Homehighway was seen as boon by the BT powers that be because it used 2 lines for a fast data connection, you get to charge 35.00 pounds on top for a service that doubles your phone bill if u don't run it at half capac'ty.
I can only thank OFTEL again(I sent a e-mail to them) for FORCING BT to interduce ADSL.
BT is a company focused on making profits for its share holders, make that MAXIMUM profits for it's shareholders. It has very little interest in its service offered because it doe's not see a large threat to its market share for at least 10 years,so if u can give OFTEL your comments this is a good thing. They are behind a lot of the improvments that are happening at the moment.
Ohh and as for the BT dial up..I deleted it from my desk top..
............it's nice to have a choice :-]]]

Well what can i say!

When i first heard about BT free, i was delighted. Free calls at weekends, meaning unlimited time online, what could be better?

In truth it's so slow, games like Half life, Quake and Kingpin are barely, (if not completely) unplayable.

On Wireplay Direct my standing ping on Half life, with a Pace 56 Voice modem is around 150, on Bt Free my standing ping shoots up to 400-450, and thats when im stood staring into a wall, doing nothing.

Sadly i can anticipate the response Bt will give you, as i have rung them many times in the past to try and get it sorted.

I bet it goes sommet like this:

"We were unable to predict the vast numbers of people that would use our free weekend service, and thus connection times have been slightly slower than what our customers have come to expect. I assure you we are doing our very best to try and resolve this problem, however we have taken note of your petition and thank you for your interest."

Yeh......RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The sad reality is BT advertised their free service, and still do, as something that can be used to access Wireplay, they use it as their selling point for BT Internet. Which is basically complete and utter BULLSH1TE.

Either do something about it NOW, a suggestion would be to make allowances for the vast numbers of people connecting by SPENDING MONEY, a concept im well to aware you are not familiar with, or just admit that your service is crap, and you are making NO EFFORT to try and resolve it, and we'll all stop using it.

I have been a subscriber of BTi before the Free access at the weekend.

When they anounced Free access I thought great cheaper phone bills.

Since then I have become addicted to TFC, and the performace of BTi at the weekend has gone from reasonable to totally crap, not good.

If the weekend performance of BTi does not improve within the next month, then they will loss my custom forever.

I agree totally with you. I am also on BT's 0800 scheme and have had disgusting pings throughout my Wireplay games. I find it impossible to move up the quake ladder that I am on because if I play anyone above me I am killed by rockets I don't even see!
I think it is disgracefull that BT think that because we pay for free calls we should have worse lines than free ISPs. On wireplay direct I get a constant 45kbps where as I have yet to get a connection rate of over 42Kbps on BT and have had as low as 34!!
It's about time something was done about it.

I'm on BT have been for about 4 months...I have also become Addicted to TFC and seen my pings raise to 700+!! I get 180-215 through WP direct using a USR 56k internal
I have justy subscribed to callnet0800 THIS IS MORE THAN TWICE AS FAST AS BT!!!
It comes to something when that happens>>>>Anyway Im gonna cancel BTFREE as the only game that I CAN play with it is Air ATTACK
BTFREE MAKES GAMES TOTALLY UNPLAYABLE ON WP
AND SPOILS IT FOR OTHERS http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/frown.gif

WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO PAY FOR 0800 WP direct!

I'm now getting ISDN so I may sign up with BT again if they get good again....otherwise i'll stick with callnet!
