bah. got bored and decided to post this info i just dug up....

ADSL modems 9 Mbps

6.312 Mbps
T1/DS1 1.544 Mbps
ISDN PRI 1.5 Mbps
Frame relay 56 Kbps to 1.536 Mbps
ISDN BRI 56 to 128 Kbps
Analog modems 33.6 Kbps

Looks like Ill have to correct your info wont I!

Although the ADSL and Cable figures quoted above are physically possible given the hardware used, you WILL NOT GET THAT SPEED FOR 2 REASONS...

Reason number 1 is because BT/Cable have limited the maximum speed a cable modem or ADSL line will allow...

For both products this is 512Kbps - NOT 30/9 Mbps like is quoted above.

Reason 2 is because it is not just yourself using the net! Bottlenecks occur in many locations, but typically the ISP. Now then if you have a 30Mbps connection to your ISP this is well and good! But your ISP is likely to have a few T1s into the net backbone...at a slower speed! So you loose whatever benefit you had by the big bandwidth..
