Hi,

I hear NTL, who have rolled out cable modems in their franchise areas, has bought out the residential business part of C&W.

Has anyone any info on when they are likely to role out cable modems into the old C&W franchise areas ?

I started on HH last june and will be miffed at paying 40 pounds per month just for HH rental, when that could be paying for 24 hr unmetered access to the internet with close on several MBits of bandwidth.

I'm in Brighton and I rang C&W a few weeks back looking into this. The person I spoke to said that they were still workingon it and that they probably wouldn't have any news on this until the summer next year! So the most likely roll-out date was for late next year! I must say I was not impressed. If you are a cable and wireless customer and you want isdn you have to go for a business package which is MORE exspensive than home highway (if you can believe that). I'm not sure if this person was up to speed on what changes the NTL situation would have but I think the best you can do is register your interest on the ntl site and sit tight.

Register your interest by all means, but keep your ears open too!

I've got mine now, as I'm lucky enough to live in the first NTL region to get them, and I registered my interest ages before they were rolled out.

When I finally heard they were about to stop the trial and open it up, I rang up to ask when they'd be round with mine. "Oh, we got so many responses, we're waiting for people to call us now" was the response.

Be warned!

The wait's worth it though http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif
