NTL Modems

do any of you know if you can make phone calls local or long distance on the new cable modem if so what programe is to be used as this could save us all alot of moneyif it's posssible ???? ..as of yet i am not able to get ntl cable modem as it hasn't come to cambridge as of yethow are you folk doing that are already connected well i hope please inform me as to how well you are doing and IS IT WORTH IT

I doubt that you can really cos a cable modem doesn't use a phone line. You might be able to make "Internet Calls" with software like Creative's MediaRing Talk 99 but both people would need the same software.

Anyway, I'm a bit upset with NTL at the mo because for a good two months they were saying that they were going to be introducing cable modems to my area in November and now the *******s have put it back to "Early 2000", along with Glasgow I'm afraid <A HREF="http://www.ntl.com/cablemodems/hispeed/soon.asp" TARGET=_blank> http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/frown.gif</A>
